Robert William Schafer

ROBERT WILLIAM SCHAFER

Technical and Industry Advisor

Mr. Schafer has 35 years of experience in the mineral industry, working in the international sector with both major and junior mining companies. He has held senior exploration management and executive positions since the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Throughout his career Mr. Schafer has worked internationally, with notable experience in the Russian Far East, Southern Africa, South America and Australia. His work has included the structuring and implementation of successful exploration strategies, project reviews and valuations leading to acquisitions, and the management of local and expatriate exploration teams operating in a wide variety of geologic environments.

Currently, Mr. Schafer is the Past- President of the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America, and sits on the boards of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (S.M.E.), as well as the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. He is a past-president of the Geological Society of Nevada and was a Councilor for the Society of Economic Geologists, and a past- Trustee for the Northwest Mining Association. He also served on a committee of the National Research Council on geologic data preservation. In 2002, the A.I.M.E. presented Mr. Schafer with its William Lawrence Saunders Gold Medal for career achievement. In 2007 he was elected a Distinguished Member of S.M.E. Robert completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Geology and Mineral Economics at Miami University (Ohio) and the University of Arizona.
